NCHL Pauses Winter Hockey Season Indefinitely

Sunday, March 15, 2020

Many hockey and sporting organizations are taking a proactive approach to the spread of COVID-19. Under the recommendation of many provincial and federal organizations we have decided to voluntarily suspend our league and programming operations. The NCHL will be suspending all games indefinitely as of 7:00pm MST March 13, 2020.

The safety of the players and officials in the NCHL are our top priority. With calls for social distancing, we want to do our part in controlling the spread of COVID-19. Our goal is to resume operations when it is safe to do so. We will be in constant contact with facilities and government officials to make the correct decision on the potential resumption of hockey activities.

In these uncertain times, we ask for your patience and understanding as we try to understand the logistics of moving forward. We will update everyone on a regular basis via email, website and social media. If you have any question or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out. We thank you all for your support and cooperation.

Please stay safe and we will see you on the ice soon!

Spare goalie process for playoffs.

If a team requires a spare goalie they must give a MINIMUM of 24 hours notice.  Teams are to email their account manager with all of the teams the spare goalie plays on, any other leagues the spare goalie plays in, and all stats from all team pages for the teams they play on.

Spare goalies must play in the NCHL current S2017 season and play in the same division or lower to be considered an acceptable spare goalie.  Goalies playing in divisions higher than the team division will not be approved as a spare goalie.  Goalies not currently playing in the NCHL in the Winter 2017-18 season will not be approved for playoffs.

Goalies are only reviewed on a per game basis, if a goalie is approved for one game that does not make them automatically approved for a second.  They must send a request in for each game they require a spare goalie.

We do understand that there are last minute fill ins required in some instances.  If a team is not able to follow the spare goalie process above due to a last minute cancelation they are still required to submit all of the above info BEFORE the goalie plays their game.

A review will be completed ASAP after the game and if the goalie is determined to be above the level of the division they are playing in the team will forfeit after the game is played and their opponent will continue on.

Anytime a spare goalie is approved for playoffs no goalie listed on the regular season team goalie roster is able to play out and the team will forfeit for playing an illegal player if they do so.

No jersey infractions are allowed in playoffs

Every team is required to have matching jerseys in playoffs.  Players that are not in an acceptable team jersey based on the NCHL jersey rules will not be permitted to play.

All players require 10 games to qualify for playoffs.  We do not make any exceptions on minimum games required for playoffs.  All goalies require 10 games in goal to play in playoffs.  Goalies with less than 10 games played must follow the spare goalie process above.

A player with a combination of games between goal and player is permitted to play out however, if you require this player to play in net and the player does not have 10 games playing in goal you must follow the spare goalie request above.

Any questions please contact your account manager.

Rule Reminder

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

This is a reminder that the NCHL has a ZERO tolerance policy on all racial, homophobic and other slurs directed at any players, referees and others in the arena. Any instance of this heard by a game official will result in an immediate gross misconduct, with possible further discipline (suspension or expulsion from the league).

We do not condone any form of discrimination, and we pride ourselves on being a safe hockey environment for all hockey players, no matter their race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation.

Thank you,

NCHL Fighting Rule

There is no fighting permitted In the NCHL. The consequences can carry a lifetime ban from the NCHL and no refund will be given. A fight is defined as an altercation with multiple punches thrown (with or without gloves on), at least one willing combatant, and the referees have difficulty separating the players.

2016/17 Schedules

Schedules will be updated in 2 parts this winter: early to mid-September and after Christmas. We are negotiating with the city for more ice slots in an attempt to offer earlier times and other locations. If new options are available, a second round of package selections will be offered.

Spare Goalies

If you need a resource to find an appropriate goalie during the regular season, there is a list of spare goalies here http://info.nchl.com/spares/   They still need to be waivered before playing.
Managing DNQ and Waivers
Posted By: Admin
Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Please make sure you have joined your team on Breakout. When you do you will need to read and agree to the waiver. You will not be permitted to play until you have done so. Hockey is a fast and potentially dangerous sport, so all players should have their own insurance. Any player that comes to play for your team as a sub will have to sign the online waiver as well before they can play. The team GM can assign them as a spare on Breakout where the player can sign the waiver.

A waiver/registration will be referenced on the entering of the game sheet, and if there is none they will become DNQ.

HOW TO ASSIGN A WAIVER: Your spare players have to accept the link before they play.

Step 1 - Invite the player to the team on Breakout

Step 2 - Add the player to your team roster on NCHL.com before the game - this will ensure the player is not DNQ on the first game, and since he filled out a waiver and is in the list of waivered players, he won't get flagged on the spreadsheet when we do the update.

We have to make sure EVERYONE playing is 100% approved to play which includes player contract and waiver.

Once all the DNQs are gone from rosters and your roster is accurate you should have no issues.

The importance is then managing your spares (see big red letters above).
