Don't Call it a Comeback...

Again, my sincerest apologies for the lack of updates lately, holidays and all.  Looks like I'm back just in time for the finals, so let's look at the matchups, shall we?

Division A Final: Honey Browns v. Hosers

Both combatants advanced last night to the finals with wins over the Pucking Pass and Iceotopes, respectively.  The H-Browns got 2-goal performances by Erik Nilson and Kyle Goudie, and were given a late power play due to an undisciplined double-minor by the Pass' Christian Ledesma.  The Hosers knocked off the first-place 'Topes 5-1 on the strength of 5 goals from 5 different players.  Those two will face-off in their finale at 10 pm tonight (all finals games will be at NESS, check the banner at the left for the full sched).

Division B: Nailers v. Flat Liners

This 2 v. 3 matchup features two teams that were separated by merely 2 points in the regular season standings and promises to be a battle.  The Nailers were 3-0 this season v. the Fliners, however the last two head-to-head matches finished 3-1 and 5-4.  The Nailers galvanized their spot in the final by polishing off the Ice Beakers on Monday 6-4, while the Ice Creamers were past their Best Before Date on Monday, being eliminated by the Flat Liners 3-1.  If nothing else, this shows a ton of parity amongst the teams in the B Division.  This one could be a classic.

Division C: Demons v. Lazers

The Demons turn out to be the only division-winners to make their playoff finals.  The Demons earned a bye to the final after beating the Lazers on Monday in Overtime.  The Lazers turned around and dropped the Rhinos 6-1 last night in the Loser-Goes-Home matchup.  The Demons have made both their playoff games very interesting so far, taking both to OT before earning victories.  They were 3-1 v. the Lazers in the regular season, but none of those games were decided by more than 2 goals and the Lazers made a strong late-season surge for the playoffs, winning 5 of their last 6 games after dropping 4 of their first 5, but may be fatigued playing their third game in as many nights.

Come out and cheer on your favourite team in their final match!
